Our LeaderLens series Wednesday, July 21 featured an exciting conversation about the very latest in leadership competencies.

My guest was Charlie Piscitello, Chief People Officer for PETCO, based in San Diego. Charlie has spent many years as an HR leader in various industries, and so has a unique perspective on leadership for the future. He has held multiple leadership positions in HR, OD and Talent management in his career in companies like Boston Scientific, Gateway, and Abbott, among others.

Both the context and the necessary capabilities for leadership have changed. So has what it takes to be an exceptional leader.  As we begin to bump up against limits: limits in natural resources, limits in financial resources, limits in healthcare capacity, for example, it requires all of us to think differently and to reframe many of the things we knew to be true. And this is requiring new leadership capacity.
