IA Appears in CLO Magazine: On Virtual Leadership
CLO Magazine's Frank Kaplan sat down with Senior Consultant Beth O'Neill and former President Barry Rosen to discuss strategies for leading virtual teams.
Online meetings present unusual challenges. Without eye contact and body language, communication is more challenging. Frequently, the result is that participants aren't engaged, they multi-task, and they may not follow through. Web meeting technology can create another layer of frustration.
Barry Rosen and Beth O'Neill are experts in leading online meetings, having collaborated on the design and creation of Interaction Associates' program, Mastering Online Meetings. This learning program for virtual leaders and team members is conducted online, in a series of four virtual, instructor-led sessions. The course helps participants:
- Design agendas and manage information in ways that increase satisfaction and productivity, and avoid excess wasted time and effort in virtual meetings.
- Reduce multi-tasking and increase engagement.
- Facilitate conversations that help meeting attendees build understanding and agreement in order to take effective action.
- Avoid the most common mistakes made when running virtual meetings.Increase ownership, commitment, and execution of action plans.
The next public "Mastering Online Meetings" workshop starts January 20, 2012.
